Flat Spiral Stitch Necklace

I Love Love Love this stitch I've been doing bracelets with it for a couple years now, and I finally got up the courage to do a whole necklace (well choker a necklace wouldn't lay correctly) I Love how it turned out. Oh, and I'm modeling it in the pictures and my grandma took the pictures normally it's the other way around. Oh and another thing let me know if you have this issue, but I don't know if it's my imagination or what, but I think I've developed an allergy to Swarovski crystals because when I'm working with them my fingers itch and when I had this necklace on it made my throat feel tight. Let me know what you think (is it even possible to be allergic to them?) well anyways let's get to the good stuff. :)

Sooo cool right!? comment and tell me what you think :)

  1. Hhhhmmm...I've never heard of that before, you might want to google it and see what it says about Swarovski itch! It's a stunner of a necklace by the way!

  2. Thank you :) I might have to do that lol, but I think it's probably just my imagination because ever since I found out that swarovski crystals are lead based I've been a little causious about using them. I had never had a problem with them before that so I'm thinking it's probably just my imagination.

    Happy beading,

  3. Lovely work! And I think the lead content is so small that it SHOULDN'T be giving you that reaction. But, maybe it could be the sharp edges, as you hold them or wear them, are pricking you too much as you weave them?

  4. Thank you, ok that's good I wasn't quite sure what the lead content was, but that makes me feel better about them :) I think you're probably right because I do hold everything pretty tight when I'm working with them.

    Happy Beading,

  5. From your pictures it looks like you have a bit of redness on your neck, probably from subconsciously scratching or rubbing your neck. It may be a texture thing. When I was a kid I got a rash from lace. My mom sewed satin ribbon on instead of the lace which solved the problem. Maybe lining the necklace with satin might help.

  6. Thanks for the suggestion, I don't remember scratching my neck, but maybe I did. It might have been the crystals rubbing my neck.
